Youthful Temptation and How to Avoid It

Run from anything that gives you the evil thoughts that young men often have, but stay close to anything that makes you want to do right. Have faith and love, and enjoy the companionship of those who love the Lord and have pure hearts. (TLB) 2 Tim 2:22

For the grace of God (His unmerited favour and blessing) has come forward (appeared) for the deliverance from sin and the eternal salvation for all mankind. It has trained us to reject and renounce all ungodliness (irreligion) and worldly (passionate) desires, to live discreet (temperate, self-controlled), upright, devout (spiritually whole) lives in this present world. (AMP) Titus 2:11-12

VICTIMS
Amnon the first son of David (Sexual drive)
Dinah the only daughter of Israel (Social need),
Gahazi the only known servant of Prophet Elisha (discontentment).
The lists are endless of several with promising future but suddenly everything cut short.

 WHAT IS TEMPTATION?

*   Pressure applied to your thinking designed to create wrong emotions which will eventually lead to wrong actions.
*      Satisfying right or normal desires in wrong ways or at the wrong times.
*      Distract us from God or our commitment.
*      Is a exchange.

HOW IT WORKS?
§  It capitalise on our areas of weakness and often times on our area of strength. We must and promptly arise and front areas of our weaknesses because a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.
§  Temptation is dwelling on what God forbids rather than on the countless blessings and promises God has given us. Satan made Eve forget all that God had given her and, instead, focus on what God had forbidden. He implied that God was stingy, strict and selfish.
§  It often comes in attractive and convincing form.
§  Temptation doesn’t often come in the public but over and over again in the private.

WAY OUT:
Embracing God’s provision for us - God Life (Titus 2:11-12, II Cor. 5:17), Consistent life of prayer (Mathew 26:41), Engaging God’s word (Psalm 119:11)

v  Taking heed to warning signs
v  Expose it
v  Flee
